Malung 5K

It was a perfect day for a 5K yesterday. My goal was modest: I was going to be happy with anything under 30 minutes.

Sometimes it all goes according to plan... I came into today's race with the goal of less than 29 minutes. The weather was perfect for a 5K - mid-60s. A little wind but not too much...

Red, White, and Boom!

A few weeks ago, an opportunity presented itself for Alyssa and I to run a 5K together - the Red, White & Boom Hot Dam! 5K near Nicollet Island. We persuaded Alyssa's fiance, Frank and my nephew's wife, Sara, to join us. Here we are just before the start of the race:

This is the most beautiful race I have ever run. We began on a cobblestone street:

The race crosses the Mississippi River twice. Here is the first bridge we crossed:

It then follows along a beautiful winding river road:

Alyssa and I set a modest goal of finishing in less than 30 minutes. After running together for much of the race, Alyssa found another gear with about a half mile to go. She was able to finish in less that 28 minutes. I felt pretty good about 29:13:

Running Every Street - Year Three!

Similar to last year, due to the late spring, we're getting a late start. Summer's here now, so let's do it again!

Please read the info on the right side of this page. Again, donations will be going to Living Hope. If you're not familiar with Living Hope, please click on the link and learn about this great ministry in Northeast Minneapolis.

Streets of Hope

The Plan: Run all the streets of Roseau
The Purpose: To reach inner-city kids with the Gospel of Jesus Christ

I run for health. I run to train for 5Ks. And now, for the fourteenth year, I'm also running so kids from Northeast Minneapolis can go to camp, retreats, and mission trips.

Over the next couple months I hope to run every street of Roseau. The city of Roseau has approximately 30 miles of streets. In order to hit every street, I need to re-run many streets over and over again, so it ends up being about 90 miles.

Would you like to help kids in Northeast Minneapolis and, at the same time motivate me to keep on running? Here's how you can help:

Pledge

10 cents per mile: $9.00 total

or 25 cents per mile: $22.50 total

or $1 per mile: $90 total
or some other amount
